Mendel Strut Camera

Georges Mendel

Ex-collection AntiQ-Photo

In the early part of the twentieth century several camera companies manufactured folding wooden strut cameras which afforded the photographer a compact hand-and-stand camera. In England J.F. Shew gained notoriety for his series of these lightweight cameras, but there were other companies, including many in France, with similar wooden strut designs. This Mendel strut camera comes with its original viewfinder, Plate holders, bubble level, brass lens, and working sector shutter.
