Four-Lens Camera
W.W. Rouch & Co.

180 Strand
London, England
Wet Collodion Era

Ex-collection Thom Bundza

Highly polished mahogany 4-lens, box-in-box, Wet plate camera meant for taking four gem or small carte de visite images at one time. The photographer printed them on embossed card stock or as tintypes, and the customer then distributed them as calling cards to family and friends or to business associates.

It has four matching brass lenses, a large flap shutter, and focuses by moving one box inside another. The photographer focused and viewed his image on the rear ground glass. The craftsmanship and condition of this W.W. Rouch camera from the 1860s - 1870s is impeccable.
