Ascot No. 1

E. & H.T. Anthony Company

New York, New York

ca. 1899

Offered for only two years, from 1899 to 1901, Anthony’s Ascot plate cameras were elegantly constructed in a variety of cycle and folding models. They were all equipped with Unicum shutters, grained leather with brass fittings and beautiful mahogany interiors. The front of each camera had a special locking device to secure it in place after achieving proper focus. The numbering began with the Ascot Cycle No. 1 with a solid front and built-in shutter. This was the least expensive model for 4” x 5” plates, and selling for $8.00.
